| | The purpose of this site is to provide information
for other woodworkers and to gloat about the progress I've made as a woodworker
so far.
I am an amateur woodworker. My interests lean towards "heirloom quality" pieces,
but I end up building all sorts of things. My project selection criteria
typically weighs what we need and what I like building. My completed projects
are a mix of both.
I've started to lean toward the Neanderthal method of woodworking. That means
that I use a lot of hand-powered tools. My main motivation is that it gets me
closer to the work, and it makes me feel more like a craftsman than a machine
operator. Other motivating factors include increased safety and the lack of
noise. I still use my machines for the "heavy lifting.” If I had to dimension
all my lumber by hand, I don't think I'd finish projects quickly enough to get
the level of satisfaction that I need.
You can gauge my level of expertise for yourself by checking out my site and my
projects. my projects. |
